Get to know the people who make Devonport Toy Library such a special place.
At the heart of Devonport Toy Library is a wonderful group of people who share a love of play and a passion for our local community. Our team is made up of dedicated librarians, committee members and volunteers generously give their time, energy and ideas to keep our little community treasure thriving.
From helping families find their next favourite toy to caring for our collection and keeping things running behind the scenes, everyone plays an important part.
Rosemary is delighted to be part of the Devonport Toy Library committee, bringing with her a longstanding connection to the Devonport community and a genuine love of seeing families and children thrive.
Having raised her family in Devonport, Rosemary has always loved being part of the local community and finding ways to bring people together. Her connection to toy libraries began back in 1992, when she joined three other Plunket mums to establish the Ponsonby Toy Library; a little community initiative that has grown into something wonderful and is still going strong today! Now, more than 30 years later, being involved with Devonport Toy Library feels like a lovely full-circle moment for her, this time as a grandmother and part of the Devonport community.
As Secretary, Rosemary enjoys helping keep things organised behind the scenes, supporting the committee and contributing ideas to ensure the Toy Library continues to be a welcoming, well-run and valuable resource for local families.
Rosemary believes a toy library is about so much more than borrowing toys. It's about creating connections, friendships and a sense of belonging. It's a place where children can explore, imagine and discover, parents and caregivers can share experiences, and a community can come together around something we all value; giving children the opportunity to learn, play and have fun.
